To further explain, a lube oil centrifuge works by spinning the contaminated oil mixture inside a bowl at high speeds, typically around 6,000 to 10,000 revolutions per minute (RPM). This high-speed rotation creates a powerful centrifugal force that causes the heavier particles, such as water and sediment, to separate from the lighter oil.
The centrifuge bowl has a series of disks or plates that create a narrow passage for the oil to flow through. As the oil flows through this passage, the centrifugal force causes the heavier particles to be pushed to the outside of the bowl, where they form a layer on the bowl wall. This layer of contaminants is periodically removed from the bowl and disposed of. Meanwhile, the purified oil flows through the centre of the bowl and is collected in a separate chamber.
